Percy Priest 9-1-10
I don't think I like Percy Priest. Beautiful lake. Looks "fishy". I just can't consistently catch decent fish here.
I was on the lake at 5:30 am, before safe light. Hung around in Long Hunter bay waiting for the schools of bass, white bass and hybrids to start breaking according to a very recent report. No schools. Went to Bryant creek where a another report says schools break in this creek early. No schools. So I fished coves, points, creek channels, islands, bluffs, pockets from Bryants up and into Suggs. Caught 1 12" and 1 13", the small one on a worm and the other on a Little John crank. Off at 2 pm. I won't quit. I will keep trying figure out the key.

Don't feel too bad Bill; it's really tough now. Weights in recent tourneys show it. Check out weights from last weekend. http://ohppbt.com/
Also, it has been a dwon year on PP all together. between the cold winter, floods, and early summer. Worst Spring I've had on Priest in 15 yrs. It will get better this Fall (any day now with the cooler weather). best tip I can give is cover wate r with topwater early, shallow near deep water (first coves, points in from main channel), and themn throw a crankbait on creek channel banks near deep water. if you cover enough water in Sept- Oct, you'll find em grouped up. Once you find em you can slow down with a jig. Just look on the map for transition stuff going in from the main channel with shallow pockets inside.
