Percy Priest 2-16-2011
Cabin fever got me today. I hooked up the BassCat and headed for Priest. Got to the lake about 10 am. Mainly wanted to run my boat since I had a hitch in my engine the last time I was out. No engine problem today; ran like a scalded goat and smooth. Temp was about 45 when I put in somewhat chilly on the water but I was layered up pretty good.
Started off in Bryant Branch throwing a Red Eye Shad in Pearl. Caught a nice little 1.5 lb bass and was encouraged. Then fan casting in 4-6 water I hooked about 6 Skip jacks or Gizzard shad about 1/2 pound. Most were hooked in the dorsal and I felt a bunch. They were really stacked in there. Left there and tried several more spots. Threw lipless cranks, jerk baits and jig but no more fish. One good bite on the jerk bait in Savage Creek. Most of the water was 41.5 to 43. The 43 was in Bryant. Air temp when I took out was 58 about 2pm.
