Another tough day on JPP. Jack and I started a little later today, around 9:00 am. Now who would expect October 25 to experience 83 degree temps, water temps at 65 degrees? We keep expecting the bass to move into the creeks and flats chasing shad but evidently the bass don't know that they are supposed to be feeding voraciously.

I should say now that Jack informed me during the day that he was fishing for musky in Priest. They weren't biting either. He ultimately settled for a shad, slightly smaller than the KVD 1.0 Squarebill.

We fished in Fate Sanders creek with no success. Fished a big flat off the main channel with the same success. Finally back in a slough off the river I caught a 13" bass. This was after 16 hours spread over 3 trips without a bass in the boat. The celebration went on for a while but we didn't have a parade...yet. After roughly 2000 casts in the flats with the 1.0 and the Red Eye Shad the final total was 5 bass and 2 shad.

Soon, fall fishing will be here but it wasn't on this day.

A couple of interesting events occurred today. As we fished around a point we saw an immense flock of buzzards, on the ground, in the trees and in the air. There were at least 100 or more, the most I have seen. Also as we hit the wake of passing boat, the trolling motor was not locked down and dropped into the water giving Jack and I a nice shower.

On another note, as I was sitting in my garage this week, I sighted a bald eagle circling a short distance away.
