Beech Lake

First tournament for the Backlasher's Club. Won by Doyal Brown with 3 fish for 9+ pounds. I caught 1 3lb 6 oz and finished 4th. It was a cold, windy day. Caught mine on G/P Red Lizard T/R. Doyal used a shallow crank bait.

Another club was present. Their winner had 5 for 16 lbs including a 7.5 lb. Used lizards on boat ramps.

New motor now has about 3 hours on break-in Another hour or so to go.

Toledo Bend

Just got back from fishing 6 days at Toledo Bend. 8 of us caught 408 bass, most from 2-3 lbs with a few 4s, 3 5s and 1 near 7lbs.

We caught most on flukes, speed worms, craws with a few spinner bait and jerk bait fish.

It was a most successful trip. We ate well, including lots of fried and boiled crawfish and etoufee.

Planning on fishing Friday at Beech Lake near Lexington, TN.

Pin Oak

Well, made it to Pin Oak on Wednesday. Ran my new motor to the dam, put down the trolling motor, ran about 50 feet when it quit. Felt a bump but the water was deep. Must have touched a treetop. Since this is a new rig, I had no idea where the reset was. Called the dealer in Nashville on my cell phone. Talked me through it. Works fine. Couldn't figure out why the temp sensors don't work on either of my sonars. I have an inkling.

Actually caught 5 bass sort of unexpectedly. A couple of them were 2 and 2 and half pounds.

The boat ran great. I now have 2 and half hours on the engine. Revved up to aabout 4000 rpms. Next time out I will briefly go up to WOT.
