Woods Reservoir 6-30-10

First time to fish Woods. Got semi lost on the way. On the water at 6:30am and off at 3:00pm. Caught a total of 8 including a 2lb catfish. Caught most on magnum finesse worm on c-rig. Woods is a very interesting lake. Lot of leafy grass. I will go back when the water is cooler.

Ky Lake at New Johnsonville 6-23/24-2010

Left for Memphis on Sunday, June 20 to work on our home. Jo Anne insisted that she needed a couple of days without me around and sent me fishing on Wed and Thu. My friend, Doyal Brown, picked me up at 3 am on Wed and we drove over 2 hours to New Johnsoville. Got on the lake around 5:40 am and went north to one of our favorite points only discover a boat already on it. Went to another Creek where I picked up a 3.5 lb bass on a jig in the leafy grass. Could get much else going. Finally put on a finesse worm on a mojo rig, motoroil/chartreuse and picked a few smaller bass. I finished the day with 7 bass. We got off the lake at 3 pm. Did I mention it was 100 degrees. We were totally wiped out. Had to go to Waverly for an extension cord to charge the batteries, ate a buffet dinner and drank a gallon of tea. Went back to the motel and were in bed at 7:15.

Back up at 4 am on Thursday and over to The Submarine for breakfast. Back on the water and were able to hit our favorite point only to find not much going on. I finally picked a new bait, a Big Hammer swimbait and caught several small bass. We continued to explore mostly shallow water. We finally tried a ledge in front of Little Dry Creek. Fishing a Carolina rig, I picked up a 2.5 bass and Doyal caught a 4 lber. We left the lake at 2:30 pm. I had 7 again for the day. Headed back to Memphis with a brief stop at The Country Store in Jackson for a buffet dinner and more tea. Really hot weather.

Not a really successful trip but it always great to fish with a good friend.

I hope to fish Woods Reservoir near Manchester Tn for the first time sometimes this week.

Old Hickory 6-19-10

F-3 Tournament time. My partner today was Steve Becker. We caught a good many fish most of which were 11.5" long. Our club "paper weighs" and we use 12" as a minimum length. We each had 4, one short of limit. My weight was 6+ pounds for 4th place and Steve's was 7+ pounds for first place. He also had a 4.23 lb fish for big fish. We caught our fish on plastic worms, jigs and buzzbaits. Most of our time was spent in Spencer Creek.

I also fished this past Wednesday, the 16th. My boat had been at the dealer for over 2 weeks repairing a bunk on my trailer that had come loose. I picked up the boat and launched at Old Hickory around noon. Caught 4 fish with maybe 2 of those keepers.

Heading to Memphis for a couple of days working on my house there. On Wednesday and Thursday, Doyal Brown and I are going to New Johnsonville for a couple of days fishing.
